Unheard Eric Clapton Track Released
Blues charity pioneer Tim Duffy has released a stream of a track he recorded in 1995 with Eric Clapton – hear their version of Willie Brown’s Mississippi Blues above.
Duffy has made the song available to mark the 20th anniversary of his Music Maker Relief Foundation, which seeks to support musicians in financial difficulty.
Slowhand has been a high-profile supporter of the organisation, calling it “a fabulous project.” The pair recorded the track during a meeting in New York.
Duffy tells Rolling Stone: “When Eric began to play it was spellbinding, and among the most amazing musical moments of my life.
“I picked up my guitar and tuned it up to match his, and began to play some backup licks I’d learned from Guitar Gabriel.”
The Music Maker Relief Foundation is to be celebrated this year with an exhibition in the New York Public Library from July, and a book complete with double album, published in September.
