Sticky Fingers – The Rolling Stones
Sticky Fingers – The Rolling Stones have re-released their 1971 classic album along with some previously unreleased material. In my honest opinion, this was the Stones at the very pinnacle of their creative period. For me, it was all downhill after the original release of this album. I’m not saying it was all over for the band, I’m saying that I don’t think they ever quite hit the spot again after this recording. Yes, Exile on Main Street was a classic, but for me, it will always live in the shadows of Sticky Fingers.
I’m baffled too by the amount of different sets there are being re-issued! Deluxe 2 CD Set, Deluxe Edition Boxset, Super Deluxe Edition Boxset, Deluxe Double LP Set, Deluxe Double LP Set – Limited Edition Spanish Cover, Super Deluxe Download oh and the Standard Download.
I’m more than happy with my 1971 vinyl copy and Cassette and CD that I already own.
Sticky Fingers is the Stones at their finest. The album is full of bluesy, depressive rocky dirges with the famous ‘You Gotta Move’ by Mississippi Fred MacDowell as a final track. The album certainly moved me back in 71 and it still moves me today. I haven’t listened to any of the un-heard ‘new’ tracks or the stripped out songs that are on there. I’m sure they’re very good, but, as I said earlier, I’m more than happy with my original.
