Robben Ford ‘Into The Sun’
Robben Ford ‘Into The Sun’ will be Robben Ford’s latest welcome addition to his catalogue albums. A release date of March 31st, 2015 on the Mascot Label, this album has a host of great musicians, so the content should be something special.
Keb’ Mo’, Vocalist ZZ Ward, And Fellow Guitar Heroes Warren Haynes, Sonny Landreth, Robert Randolph and Tyler Bryant.
In his own words, Robben describes the 11-song set as “one of the top recordings I’ve ever done”. That’s some statement when you look at how many albums he has made.
All of the music was written by Robben Ford, but there was some collaboration with the lyrics.
He wrote ‘Breath of Me’ with ZZ Ward and enlisted the help of Kyle Swan with four of the songs. Although his most recent releases have seen Robben Ford go back to his musical roots, ‘Into The Sun’ seems to be a clear departure into the realms of jazz, pop, blues and rock. Again, in Robben’s own words, ‘This album is obviously of these times, and the rule during the recording process was to have no lid on things. I’ve worked very hard to master my craft as a musician and a songwriter, but other than relying on my strengths in those areas, I made sure there was room for new ideas and everything my collaborators brought to the music. When you’re open to different concepts and approaches, the most beautiful things can happen.’
There is a tour planned to coincide with the release of ‘Into The Sun’ which includes the US and international dates. As with everything that Robben Ford has released in the past, this album is one to look out for. More information about his tours and his famous master classes he runs, can be found at his website:
