Jonny Lang a natural born guitar shredder. Learned to play at 12, released his first album at 16, Lie To Me, although his first recording was an independently released album with his band, Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang. Born in Fargo, North Dakota in 1981, the young Jonny played guitar to his friends, apparently playing everything from modern hits to the classics.
He would perform an outstanding take of Jimi Hendrix’ National Anthem.
In his early years as a performer, he would play on stage without shoes or socks, but after a few heavy splinters and a couple of nasty electric shocks, he decided to wear them. He had said that performing bare-foot ‘feels good’. In 2006, still only 25, Jonny Lang released the album ‘Turn Around’. It was Gospel influenced, but went on to win him his first Grammy award.
He has toured with The Rolling Stones, Buddy Guy, Aerosmith, B B King and Jeff Beck.
Then, in 2004, Jonny Lang was invited to perform at Eric Clapton’s Crossroad Festival’ in aid of the Crossroads Centre in Antigua. He regularly plays with other pro musicians such as (Buddy Guy, Eric Johnson and Billy Cox) in the The Hendrix Experience Tour paying tribute to one of his hero’s.
With his latest album, Fight For My Soul gaining critical acclaim, the future looks good for Jonny Lang.
